Pregnancy Yoga Is Highly Beneficial For
You
Yoga is like a magic box which can provide almost instant
relief for any malady. The problem with the yoga exercises
however, is that they have to be repeated everyday; but then,
so do other types of exercises. If you want to stay fit, one
has to introduce some kind of physical activity and stick to it
on a daily basis.
Is It Safe to Practice Yoga during Pregnancy?
In the majority of cases, there is nothing that could be more
beneficial to a pregnant woman than yoga. There is only one
pre-requisite here – that the doctor would give his/her
permission for the woman to continue or start yoga classes.
This is more out of professional courtesy more than a
compulsion, because if an emergency occurs the doctor should be
aware of the fact that the pregnant woman was practicing
yoga.
Sometimes, pregnancy yoga may make one uncomfortable; but
usually that is not a reason to worry. Continue with your
pregnancy yoga exercises if the discomfort is mild and does not
cause you to change your facial expressions (a good
self-appraisal for real pain and discomfort). However, never
force yourself to do any yoga exercise when pain dictates that
you should stop. Though pregnancy yoga will never harm you or
the unborn baby –a wrong concept, a wrong move, a wrong push
can end in terrible tragedy. Hence, be very careful about how
you use your body during pregnancy because you are directly
responsible for the life of another human being too.
The pre-natal classes are usually received very well by
everybody in the first two semesters of pregnancy. Usually
complications set in only from the onset of the third semester.
Ironically, this is the time when the pregnancy yoga actually
is the most beneficial, i.e. it can release back pain, regulate
digestion, promote healthy growth of the baby and prepare the
body for a quick and relatively painless birth.
It seems however, that women are not always mentally prepared
to practice pregnancy yoga in the later stages of pregnancy.
The power of the mind over the body being what it is, it
prevents the body to receive the full benefits of the yoga
exercises. Many women during the third semester change to aqua
yoga which they feel is more comfortable and easier to perform
and practice.
No matter what yoga you follow, the benefits remain the same,
i.e. smooth delivery, minimum pain and fewer
complications.
